DPM Wong appalled over passport slip-up: THE Home Affairs Ministry, already under public attention because of the human lapses that led to the Mas Selamat escape and the attempted break-out from the subordinate courts’ holding cell, is facing another embarrassment. A Singaporean was let through immigration at the Budget Terminal yesterday although he had a wrong passport — that of his son. Deputy Prime Minister and Home Affairs Minister Wong Kan Seng (picture) said in a statement late last night that he was “totally appalled and flabbergasted at this slip-up’’. What made the slip-up even more noticeable was that Mr Ang Heng Soon, 61, the man at the centre of the mix-up, failed a few times to scan his fingerprint at the immigration’s automated clearance system.
