Teen appeals lengthy suspension for giving teacher a 'noogie' - On Deadline - USATODAY.com: A 14-year-old boy is asking an appellate court to overturn the lengthy suspension he received after giving "noogies" to one of his former teachers at Lynbrook South Middle School in New York.
"It was a show of affection to a teacher," Ethan Mirenberg tells WNBC-TV.
The school district, which suspended the honor student for 10 months, says his behavior was "strongly inappropriate," according to the N.Y. Daily News.
The boy's attorney tells the paper that the 39-year-old Spanish instructor liked it when students rubbed their knuckles on her scalp.
"She had this very bizarre tendency to invite students to give her noogies," lawyer Edward Paltzik tells the Daily News. "This teacher has a history of encouraging noogie behavior."
